Dr. Michael Williams
I am a Senior Lecturer in International Event Management at University of Brighton, UK.
I joined the School of Service Management in March 2008, as a member of the Events Management team. Prior to joining the University, I was responsible for managing the festival programme at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
I have previously worked as Events Manager for the Harrogate International Festival and the Wiltshire Festival. After graduating from the UK Centre for Events Management, I continued my interest in Events Management education, presenting a paper at the Third International Event Management Research Conference at the Australian Centre for Events Management at the University of Technology in Sydney.
My research interests lie in the emerging areas of the social sciences and critical studies of events. I began my PhD research in January, 2012 and since then have been researching, writing, publishing and presenting at conferences, alongside my teaching.I completed my PhD in May 2017. I live and work on the sunshine coast in Eastbourne, have a young family and a dog.
